I appreciate you reading along and thank you for all the great feedback I've been receiving. Let’s keep it coming!

So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

P.S. To help all of you level up, I'll be including free kits in all my emails starting this February.

This Week in Producer News 📰

Pharrell's choice of greatest music producer and his opinion on music.

Pharrell Williams is a well-known music artist and producer that has received 13 Grammy awards, including 3 for best producer of the year.

You have most definitely vibed a song that has featured Pharrell Williams or was unknowingly produced by him. When it comes to music producers, Pharrell is probably one of the best of his generation, however, when asked who he thinks is the best, Pharrell says "Quincy Jones, obviously!”

Pharrell sat down and had a chat with The Guardian, where he was also asked for his opinion on the quote said by famous composer Friedrich Nietzsche, “Without music, life would be a mistake.”

The infamous hitmaker answered with, "Life without music would be like a human being without sense, I was always making music as a kid, but never thought I could do something with it.” Pharrell talks about his early life, “I always knew I was going to do music; I just never knew what - whether I would end up as a terrible music teacher or an art teacher who was always asking his friends to come over and play on the side. But this was how it was written, and I give thanks every day.” I think I can speak for many people when I say I am glad he decided to pursue his music career, if not, we wouldn’t have the pleasure of listening to songs like ‘Get Lucky’. With Daft Punk, ‘Drop it like it’s hot’. With Snoop Dogg, ‘Hot in Herre’, and so many more.

Pharrell cleared up the question of who discovered the Clavichord/Clavinet sound, him or Chad Hugo which went on to become a signature sound in early creations. “Man, you’ve put me on the spot, but it was me,” he says. “I’ve always liked different sounds - like how Picasso’s eras were defined by his influences. The clavichord was a way to express Middle Eastern note patterns and chord progressions, but to also be raspy like a guitar. You can hit the 50-yard line between Middle Eastern and traditional guitar licks, like in ‘Superthug’.”

Pharrell urges that everyone go and listen to De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising and De La Soul Is Dead - soon to be released on streaming services - and says that he’d be keen to collaborate with Playboi Carti. If he could, he says that “there’d be many people I’d want to work with from the yacht rock, soft rock, soul or funk part of the ‘70s. And that’s without getting into Burt Bacharach or Stevie Wonder vibes. How would I possibly choose?”

Article of The Week 📜

Bizarrap is the biggest producer in the world?

Bizarrap is an up-and-coming music producer with over 15 million subscribers on his YouTube channel and more than 4.5 billion views.

Bizarrap has been getting lots of recognition since his latest hit with Shakira “Session 53”. Bizarrap, also known as BZRP, is from Argentina and became well-known for hosting and performing in his BZRP Music Sessions and the BZRP Freestyle Sessions, featuring the biggest Latin artists such as Anuel AA, Nicky Jam, and Quevedo to name a few.

Bizarrap started his music career in 2017 by creating his YouTube channel and uploading his freestyle battles and remixes, going on to build a following quickly which started the recognition by other Argentine artists.

Bizarrap had reached over 28 million Spotify listeners before his latest song with Shakira and work with Residente which has since soared him to epic numbers. Bizarrap is only just scratching the surface of an impressive career. It's so sick to see a young music producer that started on YouTube collaborating with such big names and hitting wicked numbers on Spotify.

Shakira and Bizarrap’s “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” soared to the top of Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart. As well as reaching the top, the collaboration that is now viral has become the most streamed Latin song in a single day in 2023, breaking the record for most streams by a song on any single day in Spain and Colombia. It's very popular in Spanish-speaking countries, but it's also reached the top 10 in other countries such as Luxembourg, Malta, and Switzerland.

People are loving the track, which seems to be a diss track towards her ex Gerard Pique, the Barcelona legend. Im excited to see what Bizarrap has planned next, I’m sure it will go mega viral.

Check out his latest video with Shakira on Bizarrap's YouTube channel.
