Steel Banglez takes ‘Best Producer’ at the Urban Awards

British music marvel, Steel Bangelz, has won Best Producer at the 19th annual Urban Music Awards in London.
Banglez is a British Asian producer in the UK and is a key part of the music scene with his hits ‘47’, ‘Bad’ and ‘Fashion Week’. Steel Banglez snapped up the Best Producer award for his contribution to music in front of some of the biggest names in the industry. The event celebrated urban music and had a line-up of well-known public figures entertaining the audience such as Bugzy Malone, Krishnan Guru Murthy, Louis Theroux, D Double E, and Gok Wan. The well-known musician picked up this award for the second year in a row. The crowd erupted with celebratory cheers when the award was announced, along with many fans of the artist taking to social media to express their happiness for Steel Banglez.
Jasroop Singh commented: “Well deserved” and Amandeep Sajjan said: “Congratulations brother, no one deserves it more!”
Banglez took his rightful place on stage to claim the prize and took the time to thank his team, family, and fans for all the support. Family is important to Steel Banglez as his success has allowed him to help his family by funding his mother’s retirement and his sister’s university fees.
Other notable names in the industry won awards at the event such as Bugzy Malone for ‘Most Inspiring Artist’, Billy Ocean for ‘Lifetime Achievement’ and Chris Brown for ‘Artist of the Year USA’.
Banglez has worked with a bunch of British greats, most of them also from the urban music scene including AJ Tracey and Giggs. Banglez is moving his way up in the industry and is becoming one of the most sought-after producers. He is widely acknowledged for his impact on the music industry and for showcasing his talent as a British Asian artist.
To carry on this really cool winning steak, Banglez is releasing his debut album, The Playlist in April 2023. I know fans are super excited to see what he has been coming up with in the studio.
This is just the start for Steel Banglez, and I am sure others are just as excited as I am to check out his debut album and see what else is happening for this sick producer.
If you haven’t heard of Steel Banglez beats before, give him a listen on the platform you use and show him some love.

Bose Launches Initiative to Support Women in the Music Industry
Women produced only 2.8% of popular songs from the past decade
Women’s History Month started on March 1 and Bose has announced they’re launching a global movement to point out and beat the constant gender gap in music.
The movement is titled ‘Turn the Dial’ and it’s focused on bringing attention to the obvious deficit of women creating music. It’s acknowledging the obstacles leading to this gap and finding ways to secure more opportunities for women and non-binary music producers to make music and be involved in the production process.
The CEO of Bose, Lila Snyder says:
“like music producers, Bose shares a passion for creating amazing audio experiences for people to enjoy” Snyder adds “This is why we’re driven to add our voice to the conversation and bring attention to the issue. We want to shine a light on the amazing women and non-binary talent who haven’t been noticed and create more opportunities for them to get into the studio and craft music for the world to hear.”
By having more diversity in the music-creating process, Snyder added, “the better it will be—different, richer, all-encompassing. We can make a real difference by working together with partners and organizations who share that same commitment.”
I know it was tricky during the COVID lockdowns for artists to continue making music, and it was sick to see a female artist like Ariana Grande, show off her music-producing skills by sharing on social media her process behind her hits. Recently, Grande shared the creative process behind her part in the collab with The Weeknd on his hit song ‘Die for You’. It would be great to see more female artists having the opportunity to share their creations.
The initiative begins with the video below from creative agency Partners in Crime Creative. The video shows musicians H.E.R., PinkPantheress, BLOND:ISH, and WondaGurl, and shows off music created by H.E.R. for the campaign. It is an empowering video pushing to get more women involved in the music production process and for others to consider women as producers.
Bose is collaborating on the initiative with ‘She Is The Music’, a nonprofit committed to improving the number of women working in the music industry. They have come up with the “Sound Is Power Impact Board.” This is for producers to send in their music to the board quarterly for review - the board have the ability to hook up producers with opportunities. The board includes as follows:
• Chloe Weise Donovan, RCA Records, Vice President, A&R
• Taylor Testa, Universal Music Publishing Group, Vice President, A&R
• Nova Wav, an American Grammy-winning production and songwriting duo
• WondaGurl, multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated producer and record executive
• Ann Mincieli, She Is The Music founder and Grammy-winning engineer
• Brandra Ringo, Quality Control Music, EVP and Co-Head, A&R
• Ebonie Smith, award-winning music producer, audio engineer and singer-songwriter
It’s sick seeing musicians from different genres and backgrounds be advocates and provide diversity for this initiative. These artists have shown strength and resilience in the music industry and are determined to make a change for others so there is more diversity and acceptance in the space.
