A song has been circling around lately and includes two of the biggest names in music at the moment and is a sick collaboration, but the artists had no idea the track was even being created. How does that work?
Popular artists Drake and The Weeknd's voices have been featured on a song called “Heart on My Sleeve,” which was posted to TikTok on Saturday 15 April by an unknown person who covers himself with a sheet and sunglasses and calls himself ghostwriter977.
No one knows much about the producer of the song other than the fact that they said that the song is made completely by AI.
“I used AI to make a Drake song feat The Weeknd,” text over the producer says in the video as the track plays.
When you listen to the song, you wouldn’t even realise that it’s not even Drake and The Weeknd featuring on the track. The song has been played more than 9.2 million times on the platform and gained more than 250,000 plays on Spotify even though some know it isn’t the famous singers, they don’t seem to mind.
“I like it but I feel like I’m not supposed to,” wrote one user. “Bout to be the first AI platinum record,” wrote another.
The song has since been taken off Spotify and TikTok but you can still see it below as users are using the song in their videos.

AI has been making headlines recently with its involvement in the music industry. Some people are loving it, and others are feeling threatened by this new technology. It seems that fans are enjoying the remixes and covers, but what are the celebrities’ opinions on it? Take a look at the next article to see their input.
Article of the Week đź“ś
Drake Is Over AI And Responds To The “Munch” Cover Saying “This Is The Final Straw”
AI-produced songs are circulating at the moment with spookily accurate impersonations of famous artists like Drake, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce and More.
Beyonce’s song “Cuff It” was recently covered using AI to have Rihanna feature on the track and it seemed well-liked by fans, even though it was supposedly produced using Chat GPT.
Another popular song was covered using Kayne West’s and Drake’s voices through AI in the song “Bubbly” by Colbie Caillat also popular among fans.
It seems that fans of the artists are enjoying hearing the beloved artists on tracks by other artists, but how do the musicians themselves feel?
A group of artists and their record labels called the “Human Artistry Campaign” has presented seven principles to “support human creativity and accomplishment” in regard to the increasingly popular trend of producing music using AI.
The group is backed by the Recording Industry Association of America whose membership includes Universal Music Group where Drake and The Weeknd are signed and wrote on their site, “Developments in artificial intelligence are exciting and could advance the world farther than we ever thought possible, but AI can never replace human expression and artistry.”
One of the principles presented by the group is the use of legal copyright, which ensures AI music producers abide by so that their songs aren’t thought to be written and produced by the artists that are featured.
Ghostwriter977 has ensured there is no confusion as to how the song was produced by stating off the bat that the song was created entirely by AI.
However, that doesn’t stop people from being annoyed by the new technology. Drake has responded to the trend of AI-generated music covers in a story on Instagram after the popular version of him rapping on Ice Spice’s “Munch” circulated.
Before Drake’s post, Universal Music Group asked streaming services including Spotify and Apple Music to stop artificial intelligence companies from obtaining their copyrighted songs. UMG said in an email to these platforms that they knew of some AI services that had been trained on copyrighted music “without obtaining the required consents” from those who own the songs. “We will not hesitate to take steps to protect our rights and those of our artists,” UMG warned.
I guess with any new technology or advancements there are concerns, but we do have to adapt to the times. However, I do believe in the ownership of artists and their voices and we do have to ensure that the proper measures are in place to avoid copyright issues. With that being said, I look forward to what songs can be created using AI and the remixes that are produced.
